HIDE ventilation grilles: when the opening should stay invisible

HIDE is a SAVEN series of ventilation grilles with special louvres that are not adjustable: they fully conceal the ventilation opening and decorate the wall. It is the choice for interiors where the grille should stay as invisible as possible while still doing its job — taking in cool air and releasing heated air.

How do HIDE grilles differ from other SAVEN series?

The key difference is the non-adjustable louvres that hide the opening from view. In the CLASSIC series the louvres are movable and let you regulate the airflow, while LOFT and LOFT ANGLE are elongated straight and corner grilles in a minimalist style. Choose HIDE when the look of the wall matters more than the ability to adjust the flow.

Where are HIDE grilles installed?

HIDE grilles serve three roles: inlet — fitted at the bottom of the fireplace to feed cool air into the convection chamber; outlet — fitted in the upper part of the fireplace or at the end of a thermal duct to release heated air into the room; and inspection — covering service openings. They are mounted directly in the openings of the heat chamber using simple, reliable fixings.

How many grilles does a fireplace need?

The calculation is based on the firebox output and the open area of the grille:

Calculating the grille area
PurposeFormulaExample for a 14 kW firebox
Inlet (cool air supply)50 cm² per 1 kW700 cm²
Outlet (heated air release)50 cm² per 1 kW × factor 1.4980 cm²

When calculating the outlet, add up all outlet points — both grilles and thermal ducts.

What are HIDE grilles made of and how are they maintained?

The grilles are made of steel and finished with heat-resistant powder paint. The coating protects them from sharp temperature changes, corrosion and environmental exposure. Smooth surfaces and a simple shape make the grille easy to clean, while the solid construction ensures a long service life. The materials of the grille and the mounting frame suit most building walls and frames of various thicknesses.

Frequently asked questions about HIDE grilles

Can the airflow be adjusted with a HIDE grille?

No. The louvres in the HIDE series are non-adjustable — that is exactly what conceals the opening and decorates the wall. If you need to regulate the flow, choose the CLASSIC series with movable louvres.

Which HIDE grille sizes are available?

Six sizes: 17x17, 17x30, 17x37, 17x49, 17x70 and the vertical 30x17 model. Every size comes in four colours: white, black, graphite and cream.

How many HIDE grilles does a fireplace need?

Inlet grilles are calculated at 50 cm² of open area per 1 kW of firebox output, outlet grilles at 50 cm² per 1 kW with an air expansion factor of 1.4. For a 14 kW firebox that is 700 cm² for the inlet and 980 cm² for the outlet.

Where exactly are HIDE grilles mounted?

Inlet grilles go at the bottom of the fireplace to feed cool air into the convection chamber, outlet grilles at the top of the fireplace or at the end of a thermal duct. The grilles are also used to cover inspection openings.

Will a HIDE grille fit a wall of any thickness?

The materials of the grille and the mounting frame suit most building walls and frames of various thicknesses. Installation is done directly in the opening of the heat chamber using reliable fixings.

Can plastic grilles be used instead of metal ones?

No. The grille sits in the path of hot air, so plastic products are strictly prohibited. Only heat-resistant metal with a heat-proof coating is used.

You can see all series in the fireplace ventilation grilles section, and choose the firebox itself in fireplaces and stoves.
